Sascha Gotowtschikow

was born in Munich, Germany of russian decent.  After studying classical percussion at the Richard Strauss Conservatory,  he went on to study various ethnic percussion instruments in New York, where he performed with the M`Boom Percussion Ensemble, featuring Max Roach, and brazilian Grupo Batucada, featuring Jaco Pastorius. Aside from various orchestral engagements in Munich (State Opera Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Orchestra, Munich Kammerspiele),  he performed extensively at many international festivals like Aspekte `83 in Austria, Wiener Festwochen, the International Film Festival Dublin, Bregenzer Festspiele, Celtic Connections, Glasgow, Jazz Ost-West Festival, Berlin, Cross Culture Festival, Warsaw, MDR Musiksommer or the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival. In 1996, in collaboration with choreographer Verena Weiß he composed the music to her dance theater production at the State Theater Innsbruck, Austria. As a founding member of the MUNICH ART ENSEMBLE, specializing in modern music of contemporary composers, he helped pave the way for many new art productions in Munich.  Mainly as a jazz drummer/percussionist he played with diverse groups and artists such as the EBU International Big Band,  the HR Big Band, Jazz Composers Orchestra, David Friedman, Klaus Doldinger´s Passport,  Barbara Dennerlein, Tom van der Geld, Ack van Royen, Charlie Mariano,  Matt Garrison, Modern String Quartet, and Ian Pace. His debut CD production Expect Me features New York jazz vocalist Alison Welles, renowned jazz saxophonist  Bob Mintzer and Grammy Award Winner  Dave Samuels on mallets.
